Nigerian songwriter, rapper and dancer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy is undoubtedly one of Africa's most talented Artists. This post highlights top 10 hit songs by Burna Boy.

Burna Boy slowly rose to limelight and earned national recognition when he released “Like to Party” in 2012. His fame continued to spread abroad and in 2019, he won himself the Best International Act in BET awards. His studio album, “African giants” was released in 2019. It won the Album of the Year at the 2019 All African Music Awards. It was also nominated for Best World Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

In 2020, Burna Boy became the first Nigerian with a back to back nomination. His album “Twice as Tall” was nominated again in the same category at the 63rd Grammy Awards.

Burna Boy did Nigerians proud when he won the award for Best World Music Album at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards. Burna Boy's growth has been phenomenal and his achievements awe-inspiring.
For this reason, I have compiled a list of my top 10 favorite songs by Burna Boy. The criterion is entirely based on my preferences. If you have a contrary opinion, feel free to leave a comment below.

10. Check and Balance

At number 10 is one of Burma Boy's early hits. Check and Balance was released in 2014. After a long silence in his music career, Burna Boy released this song which soon became a street hit. This song showed his genius in dancehall genre and is worthy to be on the list of his top ten hits.

9. Rock your body

This is another hit by Burna Boy that deserves to be on his top 10 list. The track was released from his third studio album titled “outside”. It was released in January 2018 through Atlantic, Spaceship Entertainment and Bad Habit.

8. Way too big

This is one of my favorites among Burna Boy's recent releases. It was released in August 14th, 2020 under is album “Twice as Tall”. After it's release, he was nominated for Headies Best songwriter of the year.

7. On the low

This is perhaps One of Burna's biggest Afro dancehall songs and a major favorite especially amongst the ladies. It was the fourth official single off the Grammy nominated Africa giant album.

6. Anybody

Released in 2019 under the African Giants album, Anybody was a song loved by many Nigerians. It's a song with a great melody which fuses Afrobeat and dancehall to create a memorable tune.

5. Yawa Dey

This was Burna's final release on his L.I.F.E album. Yawa Dey is a jam that was undoubtedly enjoyed by many Nigerian. Burna Boy takes his music to the street in the music video as the dancehall tune is enjoyed by many on the streets.

4. Killing them

This is a jam that deserves to be amidst top songs by Burna Boy. Together with Zlatan, Burna Boy delivered an Afrobeat that gives an excellent dance vibe. The music video was also very entertaining as dancers faced off, delivering excellent dance moves in rhythm to the beat.

3. Dangote

This is undoubtedly one of Burna Boys biggest hits. This song is almost always on the lips of many Burna Boy fans. The song is named after Nigeria's richest man and depicts the poverty level in the country. Burna talks about his hustle and how even someone as rich Aliko Dagote still struggles to make more money.
The song was released in 2019 under the Grammy nominated album “African Giant”.

2. Like to Party

Released in 2013 under his album L.I.F.E, this was certainly one of Burna Boy's earliest hits which made his fame skyrocket. Like to Party is undoubtedly a worthy throwback. From his early days, Burna Boy has been a phenomenal artiste and has always had a taste for good music.

At number one of top hit songs by Burna Boy is everyone's favorite, “Ye”. Without a doubt, this is by far Burna Boy's greatest hit. This song gained its popularity both locally and even on the international scene. Ye was released in January 2018, and was written by himself. It was his seventh track under his album “outside” and is continually heard on the lips of many of his fans.

Burna boy continues to be an incredible artiste doing us proud locally and internationally. Without a doubt, he is among those taking the Nigerian music industry to the next level.
