What is the meaning of soro soke?

'Soro soke' is a Yoruba phrase which means speak louder or speak up. It's a combination of two Yoruba words: Soro (speak) + soke (up). The phrase has recently become more of a slang. The phrase 'soro soke were' (speak up lunatic) was also used in some placards during the End SARS protest in Nigeria. The origin of the transition of 'soro soke' into slang is hard to trace.
